Happy New Year!

Well the year has come to an end. It was a memorable year for us…2013 was the year Sleepy Owl Co. was born. We began in May so I guess it hasn’t really been a whole year but that’s a minor detail…moving on. We’ve had a blast and have learned a lot of things along the way. We thank you for your continued, business, referrals, support and encouragement 🙂

To cap off the year, one of our favourite clients asked us for a simple banner and some toppers for her New Years Eve party. She wanted the toppers to include a clock and I convinced her to let me add some bling. I think we accomplished this. While working on these items I realized 2 things…

1. Our client loves to throw parties! This is her 3rd one and we truly appreciate the business 🙂 I’m just waiting for an invite to one of these parties, they look super fun in pictures.

2. Working with sparkly paper is messier than I imagined. I still have sparkles on my forehead and in various parts of the house where I worked on the banner. My girls however, think it’s the best thing ever!

Thank you once again S., I hope you have a fabulous party tonite!

Happy New Year friends! All the best for 2014!

Another fun dino party!

Dinosaurs seem to be all the rage for little boys these days…and our client’s 4-year-old was no exception. How does this party differ from the last dino party I posted about  (you might ask)? Well, I was invited to this one, along with my girls. The party was for a dear friend’s son and it was mucho fun. His party was held at an indoor trampoline playground (a first for us). Attention parents: this is the best way to tire out your kids. My girls had a fantastic nap after the party!

In addition to the regular banner and toppers and thank you tags, we also designed some loot bags, a table sign and a door hanger (sign), which was a first for us. It’s always nice to design products and then see them being used firsthand.

Thanks for a lovely time R.!

Horse Envy

When I was young I wanted a horse. What little girl doesn’t? Forget Barbies – I owned 12 my little ponies and the pony ranch. All I drew were horses. I followed horse races on tv. You get the picture….I loved horses. Oh how I wish someone had invited me to a party like our client threw for her 7 year old daughter.  After speaking to our client about her colour choices (pink and teal) and seeing pictures of the venue – Earthbound Stables, (check them out!), we couldn’t wait to get started.

The triangle banner was perfect for this type of party. I love that there was a sweets table and a hot chocolate table, mmmmmmm. The best part was making the Pin the Tail on the Pony poster. We made pretty tails out of ribbons and yarn and of course forgot to take a picture of them 😦

Perhaps one day I will be able to realize my dream of attending a party like this when my daughters grow older.

Thank you Carol for letting us be part of this special day!
